Shoe Size Increase

By: Peggy
June 24, 2009

Q. I am pregnant and my shoes do not fit? Is this due to my pregnancy?

A. Yes it is. Two things happen that cause your feet to grow during pregnancy. The first is that the hormone that causes your pelvis to soften and expand also affects the similar ligaments in your feet. The second is the extra weight you have gained can cause the arches in your feet to drop, which will also lengthen your foot.

Your foot may increase a half size and may or may not go back to original pre pregnancy size.
