- Soften those pores!!! Warmth prepares the skin for extractions. A warm towel can be used to help loosen the layers of skin before touching the infected area. This is why steamers are used when receiving a facial.
- Use a scrub to soften the skin cells for extractions. This will also aid in making the skin smoother and helps with breaking down clogged pores.
- Now you're ready to get down and dirty. Manual extractions are often the only way to banish impurities and clean up those pores. By releasing the bacteria and fluids, the pores can begin to heal and contract to their normal size.
Using your forefingers, wrap them up with tissues. Your nails are your worst enemy. This is how most scarring occurs. Placing tissues over your two forefingers will act as a protector of pressure against your skin. Next press down lightly in an under and up movement. The slightest bit of pressure will help release the bacteria. Don’t put too much pressure on it or else you can traumatize the tissues. Do not force anything that doesn’t release easily. Sometimes wiggling your fingers back and forth over a blemish will help break up the fluids and slowly free itself. Using the tissues not only acts as a barrier from your nails but it also stops the bacteria from spreading anywhere else. It will help absorb whatever releases immediately into the tissue. Cotton swabs are also great tools to use when dealing with pimples. Especially around the nose area! They are smaller than your fingers and can get into those hard to reach places.
- Always cleanse the area after extracting. Wiping down your skin with a toner and cotton pad is a sure way to stop the spread of infection. It will also begin the process of tightening up the pores.
