I got married over the weekend! On October 10th, Todd and I tied the knot! It was a beautiful ceremony, where we literally "tied the knot", an old Irish tradition. We kept it small and sweet! The weather was perfect for an outdoor evening wedding. My girls walked down the aisle to "All We Need Is Love", by the Beetles, one of my favorite songs in the world. I came down a beautiful staircase without falling, to my friend Brooke Tansley, who sang "At Last", a song made famous by Etta James. It was perfect and of course I cried, laughed and then cheered. Once the "I do's" were said, we brought the guest inside for some dancing, celebrating and lots of laughs.
My husband surprised everyone with two things:
1. An updated version of the classic Frank Sinatra song, "My Way", that his father had recorded many years ago. Brian Barnes, Todd's father, passed away 8 years ago. He had an amazing voice, which clearly my husband did not inherit. It brought the entire room to tears!2. He somehow had a woman make two piñatas that resembled Todd in his tux, and me in my wedding dress. We each a chance to take a swing at one another. I have never seen this done at a wedding, but let me tell you, our guest went nuts over the explosion of candy across the dance floor.
As for the decorations, I kept it very clean and simple. Everything was white with an accent of olive green that matched the bridesmaids' dresses. I had the most beautiful orchids as centerpieces surrounded by scattered candles and lots of moss. I originally wanted to go crazy and decorate with many, many pumpkins for a Fall Wedding. But I decided that one huge pumpkin would be enough for this bride. Having my monogram carved in it was an extra bonus! Candy apples were given away as wedding favors.
As for my makeup and hairstyle, I went with a look that resembled an updated version of "Breakfast at Tiffany's". I wore my hair in a funky French twist, with Todd's grandmothers antique brooch placed on the inside, which was my something old. Thanks to my Esthetician, Denise; who gave me a great skincare regimen, my skin glowed all day long. I didn't wear a lot of makeup, just lots of lashes!
I enjoyed every minute of my wedding! I wouldn't have changed a thing. My favorite part was when we danced to our wedding song that was sung by dear friends of ours, Steve and Lisa. The title of the song describes Todd and I perfectly...Crazy Love! God I love Van Morrison!Until next time...Love, love!
