Normal Skin: How To Care For Skin In Springtime

By: Kim
March 11, 2009

Now that Spring is in the air, nature is slowly waking up from its hibernation. Now it’s time for your skin to wake up! Stick to a daily regimen consisting of a cleanser, an exfoliator, and a moisturizer. Here are a few of my favorite products to make your skin feel alive this spring season:

The trick to keeping those pores from being noticeable is to wash your face twice a day with a foam cleanser. Creamy cleansers were great for the winter season, but now it’s time to switch to a foam cleanser that will give you deeper pore cleansing. MD Skincare All-In-One Cleansing Foam will remove makeup, dirt and oil while fighting off blemishes deep into the pores.

Obagi Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser is another great way to cleanse away impurities while leaving your skin soft and refreshed. Don’t forget to make circular motions with your fingers while cleansing. It helps the cleanser get into the pores and stimulates blood flow.

Wake your skin up!  Instead of using your fingertips to apply and massage cleanser into the skin, go with the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush System.  This is a professional-grade tool that us esthetician highly recommend.  Try using it at least 4 times a week.

Now it’s time to glow! Using an exfoliator twice a week will help you remove those layers of dry skin. Mario Badescu’s Enzyme Cleansing Gel is a non-foaming, gel cleanser that will cleanse the skin and leave it looking smoother. This cleanser is rich with two alpha hydroxy acids: papaya and grapefruit extracts that will remove the dull build-up that can lead to blackheads and pimples.

Now give your skin a drink by quenching it with moisture! Always use a daytime moisturizer with an SPF of 15 or more. With the warmer weather approaching we tend to run outside without protecting our faces. Clinique Moisture Sheer Tint SPF 15 not only protects with a powerful antioxidant, it also comes in four different skin tones. It’s the best way to give you a sheer glow without the sun damage. Clarins Bright Plus HP Protective Day Lotion Oil Free SPF 20 is a brightening treatment that protects and hydrates your skin. Its matte finish can be worn alone or under makeup. At bedtime, try a moisturizer that will help plump the skin by the morning. Kinerase Cream is perfect for uplifting your skin from a long drawn-out winter. It contains a natural plant hydrator called kinetin and utilizes vitamin C, collagen, and elastin to repair and renew your damaged skin. It’s a little pricey, but worth the money.

Warm up to Spring with the perfect skincare regimen. It’s time to peel off a few layers of clothes and skin for the new season.
