Summer Lips

By: Scott
June 25, 2009

I've been getting more into lip looks this season, and I've been noticing it as a little trend. The colors are very tropical; oranges, berries, fuchsia, and bright reds like an old-fashioned cherry, and even tomato. The trick is to use a semi sheer formula so as not to be overpowering (unless you really want to make a statement). These bright fruity shades look fresh and modern, especially when paired with a very minimal eye, even sans mascara if you can pull that off. This time of year, who wants to put on a full mask? A little bright, fruity lip color, and a big pair of dark sunglasses is all anyone really needs.
As always, I encourage everyone to throw caution to the wind and try that one color that really scares you, whether it's an apricot or bubblegum pink, fuchsia or cerise. You might just be surprised at how your color choices can evolve. Otherwise you may find yourself caught in some early 21st century time warp.

P.S.- it's OK if you still hate it, but it's always good to experiment.
