Step By Step: Winter Eyes

By: Jacob Makeup
January 04, 2009

This winter play up your eyes like never before. Take your look from subtle to smoldering and be the belle of your ball with red eye shadows! Sound scary? Not at all, it’s the hottest trend in eye makeup. Here are some tips and tricks:

If you are not a really dramatic makeup kind of girl, try this:

1. Incorporate red in an understated way, by dusting a bit of red into the crease of your eye.

2. Use a sheer gold eye shadow on the lid.

3. Finish it off by blending the colors together at the crease with a bit of a deeper hued reddish brown like Il-Makiage’s Cognac.

4. Line your eyes with liquid liner, I am loving Eve Pearl’s liquid liner pen these days.

If you are a bit more brazen and love to rock a smoky eye here are some suggestions:

For brown eyes:

1. Start with Ben Nye’s crème base in LCR-5 Bronze all over the lid.

2. Dust Il-Makiage’s Golden Saffron into the crease.

3. Place Il-Makiage Chic Red on the eyelid over the crème base.

4. Blend your colors and intensify the look by buffing Il-Makiage Cognac over the crease.

If you have blue eyes:

1. Start with Ben Nye’s crème base in LCR-15 Persimmon all over the lid.

2. Use Ben Nye’s LCR-15 Cherry Red over the crème base.

3. Dust Il-Makiage Ombre into the crease and pull it slightly off the outer corner of the eye.

4. Intensify it by placing a bit of Il-Makiage Rust in the inner and outer corners of the lid.

If you have green eyes:

1. Start your look off with Ben Nye’s crème base in LCR-16 Azalea all over the eyelid.

2. Lightly dust Il-Makiage Diamond into the crease and slightly wing it off the eye.

3. Over the crème base place Ben Nye’s LU-16 Azalea

4. Then blend Ben Nye’s LU-21 Indian Copper into the inner and outer corners of the lid.

For the smoky eye look, finish it off by smudging Kryolan’s Kajal pencil in black on the upper and lower lash line, add a few coats of mascara and you will the winter ball!
