Making your skin look young and dewy is desirable by almost everyone. So what are some of the best ways to do so?
If you don’t smoke or drink much or still have pretty good skin, then it will be easiest for you. Use light coverage foundations, and use them only in the spots on your face where you need a little extra coverage. I recommend trying Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation or at a better price point try MAC’s Face and Body Foundation. Both of these are lightweight, oil-free liquids that blend easily, give sheer to medium coverage, and look dewy on the skin.
If you are into a more organic approach or need more of a medium coverage, there is a large array of mineral makeup foundations on the market now. These generally have Mica in them, which is a light diffuser so it gives a slightly shiny appearance. This is also a good option if you have oily skin; you can find your shade in a mineral powder foundation, which will absorb excess oil on the skin but not take away all of your natural shine. Take a look at my article on Mineral Makeup for tips and recommendations.
If you are completely satisfied with your foundation, even though it may be a mattifying powder or a full coverage liquid with a matte finish, use a highlighter on the high parts of your cheekbones, a bit under the brow, and a touch on the bridge of the nose.
If you are using a powder foundation, try also using a powder highlighter. Joe Blasco makes loose powder highlighters for fair skin, medium golden-toned skin and dark skin. Chanel makes a beautiful liquid highlighter for dark skin, called Sheer Brilliance - sun kissed, use it under powder or over liquid foundations. You can also try MAC’s Clear Gloss this is a clear gel based formula used for a wet, dewy shine and should be used over a liquid foundation.
Now you can look young, fresh, and dewy all day. The best tip of all though, is always take care of your skin. To find out how, check out Kim’s Spring Skin Care Routines.
