Did you know that a head massage helps maintain a healthy scalp? It reduces scalp tension (which can sometimes cause hair loss), loosens dead skin cells, and brings extra blood to the hair follicle. Here are a few easy steps for a healthy, invigorating, do-it-yourself head massage: 1. Use warm olive oil if you have a dry scalp; equal parts of mineral water and witch hazel if your scalp is oily; or equal parts of mineral water and rose oil if you would consider your scalp normal.
2. Apply the appropriate mixture to the scalp.
3. Starting at the forehead, gently knead your fingertips on your scalp, pushing fingers together then apart through the hair without lifting or moving them. You don’t need to apply a lot of pressure.
4. After about a minute, move your fingertips to the sides, then to the crown, and end at the nape of your neck.
5. Now you are ready to take a warm bath and go to sleep.
