Homemade Hair Conditioner

By: Maret
April 01, 2008

Do you ever feel stressed out after a long week of work and just long for a break? Well,

I'm guessing your hair might need one too. You don't have to go to a salon for a deep conditioning treatment. Just step into your kitchen and whip up your very own potion that can help nourish and rejuvenate your hair. Here is an old remedy of my grandmother's that hasn't failed me yet. Mayo, mayo, mayo!!! My grandmother put mayonnaise on everything, including her hair.

Take one cup of real mayonnaise and comb it through your hair from root to tip. Once it's been evenly placed, take a shower cap and cover it up. You don't want to get mayo on everything! Leave it in for at least 20 minutes. Then rinse with warm water and wash it out with shampoo.

If your hair tends to be really dry, then try a more intense treatment. Take one half of an avocado and mix it with one cup of mayo. Stir this mixture until it turns a mint green color. Once this color has been achieved, it's time to apply it to your head. You can also use a plastic wrap to enhance the moisture. Let it marinate for 20 minutes and then follow through with a rinse and shampoo. Avocado is an amazing ingredient because it contains vitamin B6 and E. These are antioxidant vitamins that help protect your hair from the harmful effects of free radicals.

This conditioner can be used once a week, especially when frolicking out in the sun. It never hurts to replenish your hair with a little extra moisture.
